Welcome to 23 Things for Technology Enabled Care. In this activity, you will begin to learn what ‘Technology Enabled Care’ means …
2. Communication, assessment and intervention using TEC
In recent years, technology has been increasingly used to support communication, assessment and intervention for people who use services. The Covid-19 pandemic greatly accelerated this as many services could only be provided remotely, so people using services, carers and workers had to rely on technology to do this. In this thing, we are going to discuss how you can make this a part of your work too.
3. Supporting people to use technology
Technology can only support care if people know how to use it and are able to do so. People who are receiving services may be able to do this themselves, may require some assistance, or may have to rely on others to do it for them. Here we will help you think about how you could support someone to use technology.
4. Accessibility
In this Thing, you will be able to learn how we define risk, how you can identify the possible severity of the risk and what you can do to minimise the potential impact of risks for yourself, people you may work with, and the people who you support.
5. Risk Assessment
In this thing, you’ll develop your knowledge of accessibility and how to support people who use services to improve their experience of digital technology by enabling and using the accessibility features of their mobile devices.
6. Telecare and Telehealthcare
In this thing, you will discover about Telecare and Telehealthcare and how these can be used to support people receiving care to stay in their own homes or access services remotely.

In this section, we will explore how people can be supported to communicate when they are unable to speak or find this very challenging. We will show that this support does not always require sophisticated technology, however we will also explain how technology can assist people to communicate in different ways.
10. Mobile Devices
In this section, you will learn about mobile devices and ‘wearables’ and how these can be used to support in their daily lives.
